I haven’t actually done any pet battling so far. I know people who have done a lot of it and enjoy it, but it just doesn’t interest me. One thing I do love about the new pet system, though, is the ability to name your pets. My priest’s silver tabby is now named Minttu, my rogue’s snowshoe rabbit is named Hopsy, and my mage’s feline familiar is Grimalkin. And sometimes, just for variety, I’ll pull out my Argent squire, Bob. My favorite, though, is a friend’s bombay cat: Sapphire.
Indeed, it is nice to be able to name them! I have a little variety: a slug named ‘Vevillslimeewe’, a nether ray named ‘Raidur’, and a cat named ‘George’. I suppose I also have my fawn ‘Fawnmower’… but that one rarely makes appearances anymore as I keep it busy at home!

I know, it’s wonderful! My Bombay has been named Lucky since I bought him sometime back in late vanilla. Always wanted to be able to ACTUALLY name him! My dragon whelps tend to wind up with more humanoid/draconic names, as I see them as more adopted children than tamed animals. (Always bugged me that Blizzard’s treatment of dragons was so inconsistent. We treat the adults like super-powerful beings; then we use their teenagers as transportation and their babies as pets. That’s kinda messed up.) And named two of my cat collection after my real-life cats; Frost and Washbourne.

Well, the little time I have spent around actual teenagers has certainly made me wish that I could sell them off as manual labor for passing adventurers!

The only two that I’ve gotten around to naming are a pet bombling named “Dud” and a Lordaeron Lost named “Boo”. I need to get with the program!

As a long-time real-world Pokemon player, I really got into renaming pets. My floating skull is Yorick, infected fawn in Zombambi, creepy crate is TheLuggage, pink elekk is ThreeSheets, CleverGirl for fossilized hatchling, … The Argent Squire is Patsy, and I almost wish that he had coconuts instead of a real pony.
Gah, I could fill half of a page! But this isn’t the place to attention-whore or bore people. That’s what the WoW forums are for.

Lol, nice references! Also, on my end at least I love to read what other people have done or have to say. As long as you don’t troll (I tend to expect any forum to have those) I am down for as long of a comment as you can make! You never know what ideas you might spark, so don’t hold back!

Spirit of Competition: Shenlong. Wolpertinger: Figment. Blighted Squirrel: Foamy. Bombay Cat: Jiji. Feline Familiar: Blair. Clockwork Gnome: ASIMO. Rustburg Gull: Mine?. Worg Pup: Stark. Spring Rabbit: Shaggy. Wanderer’s Festival Hatchling: A’Tuin. Core Hound Pup: Cerberus. And one of my favorites, Personal World Destroyer: ShirtNinja, a reference to an old GU comic about how Fel Reaver somehow ALWAYS snuck up on us. These are really the best, will go on a naming spree once I’ve filled my collection out a bit further. :3

I have a Corehound Pup named Burny and a Spirit of Competition named Olympia. I’m not terribly creative, which is why I didn’t even name my whole battle lineup (the third is a Murkablo that I couldn’t think of another name for).
