I don’t actually know any mother-daughter pairs who play WoW together, but I do know a few father-daughter and father-son pairs who do, and they’re awesome.  Computer games have such a reputation for getting in the way of family relationships, it’s really nice to see them actually pulling people together.  Of course, we all know some families who should definitely not be pulled together under any circumstances.

And my mother?  My mother is wonderful and I love her, but she has much better things to do with her time than play computer games.

  1. oh that reminds me, I need to run my daughter’s wee rogue through SM now that she’s back home! She had great fun telling her boyfriend she dragged her mum off to do some battlegrounds. =)

    • I hope your daughter knows how lucky she is!

  2. “Another alt? When are you going to level your main so we can get Classy Night Elves?” – very close to an actual quote in my household. Yeah, my nine year old daughter loves the starter areas. All of them. Which makes her mother impatient at times.

    • Sounds like a great family life. 🙂

  3. My cousin tried to suck me into WoW. I managed to fend him off. Then two of my friends…excuse me…”friends”…and now I’m a hopeless addict. What’s worse is I managed to get my wife addicted. WHEN WILL THE MADNESS END???

    • The madness never ends. I think you and I know that pretty well! Like my father always used to say… if you’re going crazy, you might as well enjoy the trip!

  5. My daughter plays. But I played first. I don’t play WITH her much, because I tend to have all top-level alts, and her highest is in the low 70s. She likes to make LOTS of alts and play them a little and not keep them. I introduced my dad and my sister to the game almost 2 years ago. Dad’s in our raid group now!

    • Three generations of a family playing the same game? That’s pretty awesome in its own right!

  6. My best friend got me hooked on the game this last December. He’s been playing since Warcraft, and he’s got quite the familial crew: his wife plays (and VERY well, I might add), his dad, his uncle, his mother and step-father (though he doesn’t play with them, just mostly likes to gank them on his horde), his sister, his son and daughter. We ALMOST have a proper raid group…

    • Oh! I forgot! His mother-in-law also plays. So, we have a mother-daughter-granddaughter team if you will 😉

      • That is indescribably awesome! 😀

  7. When I moved in with them in 2011 to start grad school, my sister suggested that my bro-in-law and nephew (who share an account) introduce me to WoW and the rest, as they say… I co-op with my nephew at times, I co-op with my bro-in-law at other times, mostly I solo; bro-in-law prefers Horde PvP, I prefer Alliance non-PvP, nephew varies (and blows us both away at battlegrounds). We tried to get my sister into it by sharing computers/accounts and co-oping with her, but she prefers “Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning” on Xbox. Nephew may be getting his own account in the nearish future, so we may have a father-son-aunt team going someday. 😉
