Some people like big sprawling dungeons, and some people hate them.  There are good reasons why we don’t see things like Karazhan or Blackrock Depths any more.  I’ve been on enough runs where we spent more time trying to navigate the map than fighting mobs to be okay with the shift towards the “corridors with bosses” style of dungeon.  Still, once you get big enough to go back and solo some of those old labyrinths, it can be so much fun to go find out where all those mysterious dark hallways led to.

  1. There may be players who can solo Chess. But Targe is not one of them.

  2. YES YES YES!! (Now go do that with Old Hillsbarad, and wander down to the “past” version of Southshore & hang around!)

    • yesssss I miss Southshore. I’m still not sure if that or Taurajo pissed me off more.

    • Oh dear, pets and Malchazzar… One raid night we were at the door, getting ready to pwn some demon-face. Casters were trying to hop onto the pillar (weird glitch that allowed them to avoid the elemental AOE), buffers were buffing, everyone was eating, etc. Then, for no reason, the Prince did a pirouette from the far side of the balcony and hauled tail toward us. Crap crap crap!!! My husband’s tank ran in to intercept while the rest of us tried to get in position. Crap craaaap, this is gonna be bad, we weren’t ready! He ran over, bashed the merry hell out of one of the Hunters’ cats, and sprinted back to resume pathing. …wat… There was a full three seconds of motionless silence as we realized that it was NOT a wipe, but what the hell? The other Hunter burst out laughing and aplolgizing; somehow he had accidentally targeted and misdirected the Prince to the other hunter’s pet, and I guess since nobody had generated any threat at all, he went back to his daily constitutional around the platform once the kitty was a digital smear. So yeah, hopefully Targe had a dog out, ’cause apparently Malchazzar hates cats. 😀

      • Hee hee! That’s a good story. 🙂

My favorite funny-in-retrospect Karazan hunter story comes from doing the Opera event. I don’t remember which opera it was, but we had the boss most of the way down when one of the hunters accidentally tab-targetted and auto-fired into the audience. We had a a few good seconds of “oh crap, this is gonna be bad” before the entire ghostly audience and the ushers stormed the stage and smacked us all down. We had some good laughs about “everyone’s a critic” on our run back from the graveyard. 🙂

      • Best Karazhan memory involved a certain pet known as Eggbert. I think he got changed, but at first, he had a very surprising little ability. He had a tendancy to run off a long way away from whoever had him out, but as with other pets, mobs ignored him. No so much with raid bosses however…

We had just cleared the round the room before the Curator when suddenly he starts his speech. The adds from his room begin pouring through the door followed quickly by the Curator himself. Mass panic on teamspeak, followed by hysteria as someone realised who had pulled. The wipe was inevitable but no-one really cared, too much laughing going on. Poor Eggbert was immediately banned from raids!

      • Alas, poor Eggbert! One of our raiders’ cat was our good luck charm; we always made sure it was out before attempting a boss.
