Those of you who’ve been doing Turkey Lurkey know what I’m talking about.  Human, night elf, and blood elf rogues?  No problem.  Gnome, undead, and orc rogues?  Not bad.  But dwarf and troll rogues?  Good luck!  They might as well be mythical creatures.

To all you rogues out there who gamely stood around waiting to be covered in turkey feathers, and to all you players who rolled up level-1 rogues and hung out by the feasting tables, we /salute you.

I still remember the exultation of getting my first relic (we druids called them “idols” back then) when I took my druid to Hellfire Peninsula.  It was for a completely different spec and did me no good whatsoever, but after more than fifty levels, THAT SLOT WAS NO LONGER EMPTY!  Still, I’m honestly not that broken up about relics going away in Mists of Pandaria.  It used to be they did nifty things to your spells (relics were glyphs before glyphs were glyphs), but it was a pain trying to track down the right one for your spec, and if you weren’t one of the classes that used them it was so aggravating to see bosses drop loot that only one spec of one class could use.  (Yes, holy paladins, I see you weeping in the corner.  I’m so sorry.)  Now, in Cataclysm, they’re just stat sticks.  We won’t be losing much when they go.

And for the record: no, I do not condone mailing skunks to Blizzard headquarters.  That’s a terrible thing to do to an innocent skunk.

In the comments on last week’s comic, Ayshela reminded me that plate-weareres are not the only ones who now have wonky gear itemization in Outland.  Going from post-Cataclysm Azeroth to Outland now is like having the previous design model sneak up behind you and give you a wedgie.

AFR #155 – Coup de grace

I recently leveled both a warrior and a paladin through Outlands and was struck by how much agility there is on the plate gear.  It’s a memory of a bygone era when when agility was actually good for plate-wearing classes– elegant gear from a more civilized age, before the dark times, before the Cataclysm…
