AFR #193 – Failure is the only option

This is how it seems to go.  We heroes roll into town, get some quests to go forth and battle evil, fight the good fight, and so on.  We go out and do all that, and somehow along the way we screw everything up and then get a new bunch of quests to go fix everything we just mucked up.  Bad heroes, no biscuit!  The trouble is, it’s usually telegraphed pretty heavily in advance that whatever we’re about to do is a really bad idea, and yet we have to do it in order to complete our quests.  Blizzard’s idea of a hero is apparently a lunkheaded screw-up who blindly follows orders from any mustache-twirling low-life who pops up with an exclamation point over his head.  No wonder they think we need to have Harrison Jones swoop in and save us from ourselves.  Or maybe they’re just trying to remind us that we’re fallible mortals, unlike a certain blue-eyed Mary Sue we all know.

Worse yet, this appears to be pretty much the entire plot of Mists of Pandaria.  Bad heroes, no biscuit!

I recently took a couple of characters through the Elemental Bonds questline.  On the fire part of that chain I got really sick of hearing Aggra tell me to quickly reactivate her totems.  Maybe the quest was bugging out, or maybe I’m just not very good at killing fire elementals, but I started to feel sorry for poor Thrall.

There’s a joke to be made here somewhere about totems and fetishes, but I’m too lazy to make it and only anthropologists would get it anyway, so I’ll leave that up to you.

Poor druids.  A whole zone where aquatic form might actually be useful and they essentially just give it away free to everybody who shows up.

According to the internet, World of Warcraft has been ruined and destroyed FOREVER by:

– 10-man raiding

– Giving mounts to level 30 characters

– Nerfing raid bosses at the end of Burning Crusade

– The Dungeon Finder

– Giving mounts to level 20 characters

– Raid buffs in Icecrown Citadel

– The Raid Finder

And you know, it must be true!  The internet wouldn’t lie to us!

Poor Tirion Fordring.  He made us a tournament and now no one wants to go.
