Have you noticed that the only pieces of gear you can get the “bonus armor” stat on are the pieces that are not actually armor? How does a ring or a necklace have bonus armor? How does it even have regular armor to begin with?
That was never what I visualized when someone said “man, that’s some rock!”

I always figured that your actual armor all has an armor value, and that the rings/necks/trinkets are magically enchanted to provide additional protection. For actual armor, the magical effects that increase protection are just part of the regular armor value.

The same way the a chest piece has intelligence on it. I mean, if your internal organs were smart, they wouldn’t be in the body that needs all this souped-up armor….
